Law enforcers have arrested five alleged fraudsters who said to have cheated people by selling them fake question papers of medical MBBS admissions test.
Later, a case was filed against the five with Paltan Police Station under Digital Security Act 2018 and Public Examinations (Offences) Act-1980, Molla Nazrul Islam, special police superintendent of CID organised crime unit, told reporters at a briefing at CID headquarters in the capital’s Malibagh today.
The arrestees are Md Kauser Gazi, 19, Md Sohel Mia, 21, Md Tarikul Islam Shovon, 19, Md Rubyat Tanvir and Md Masudur Rahman Imon.
The organised crime unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) made the arrests from Jatrabari and Badda areas of Dhaka yesterday, Nazrul Islam said.
The CID team also seized mobile phone sets, laptops and SIM cards from their possession, he said.
The gang used to prepare fake question papers and circulated them among medical admission aspirants through messaging apps in exchange of money.
Earlier on October 6, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed arrest of five frauds who duped people by circulating fake question papers of the medical entry tests, and six question paper-seeking admission aspirants, from different places of the capital.
