‘We want to utilize the merit of the youths for the development of the country’
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the newly-elected leaders of Dhaka University Central Students Union (Ducsu) to maintain peaceful atmosphere on the campus, saying her government wants to further develop the country by utilizing the talents of the youths.
“We want the universities are run beautifully and for this, there must have proper (education) environment,” she said on Saturday.
She made the remarks while addressing the Ducsu and hall union leaders who called on her in the afternoon at the prime minister’s official residence, Ganabhaban, in Dhaka.
Hasina said: “We want to utilize the merit of the youths for the development of the country… We want to make their thinking more effective.”
Ducsu Vice-President-elect Nurul Haque Nur, General Secretary-elect Golam Rabbani and Assistant General Secretary-elect Saddam Hossain, Bangladesh Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovan, who lost against Nur, and vice-presidents of 18 hall unions also addressed the function.
Chhatra League’s DU unit President and Chairman of the organization’s election conducting committee Sanjit Chandra Das delivered the welcome address.
